At the middle school gym, I made 5 shots. They only give you 50 tries. But 5 shots is OK. Jamie made 25 shots, that is good. It’s pretty fun at the basketball hoop shoot.

This spring break I went to Colorado and there was snow. I went to my grandma’s house. I stood there from Monday to Saturday. It takes about a day to get there from my house.

This weekend, coming up, I will probably go places tomorrow. On Sunday, I’ll rest. I might go a lot of places, but I don’t know, but both the days, I will watch TV. I can’t go a lot of places on Sunday because Sunday is a day of rest.

At Recess, I played Duck, Duck, Goose. It’s when people sit in a circle and one person walks around and when (s)he says goose, then the goose tries to get the duck, but if (s)he gets tagged, (s)he’s in the mushpot.

This 3-day weekend I had lots of fun. On Saturday I went places, but not very many. I knew I went to my mom’s work, but I went to DATCU, and other places, too. At DATCU, it had too many people at the drive-thru. On Sunday, I rested. Yesterday, I went to Eureka Park and went shopping.

This weekend, I had a great time. My Grandpa rested. He rested because he had a disease. It probably was a cold. On Saturday, my Grandma worked all day in my upstairs. And on Sunday, she rested.

I saw Mrs. Newland’s puppy today! She’s eight weeks old. She has a short tail. She’s brown and white. She’s little. She has fur. She has sharp teeth! The puppy is soft. She’s not big, and she’s cute.

I am doing a president report on James Monroe. Right now he’s dead. He once died on a July 4. He’s famous. But he died a long time ago, a long time before I was born.

I am thankful for my own room. I am also thankful for my dogs. And I am thankful for Jon Greene, all the rest of my friends, and the 5th grade teachers.

On my vacation, I took my van trip to San Francisco and then I flew two airplanes. One airplane was from San Francisco to Maui. The other one was from Maui to Hawaii. In Hawaii, I rented a car and stayed in someone’s house named Nita. In Hawaii, I also swam in the Pacific Ocean. I also went to a wedding and I was in it. My Grandma, Grandpa, Aunts, Uncles and Cousins were there.

On Saturday, I had a busy, busy day. This day I went to church at 4:00. On Sunday, I didn’t go anywhere, but I had a babysitter. But on Saturday, I also rode the horse. It was a ride-a-thon. The ride-a-thin was at Lake Ray Roberts.

Right now in the fish tank we now have fish! We only got 2 fish. One of them is a zebra fish and the other fish is a hatchet fish.
The weather is cold. It’s fall now. One day the leaves blew away and then came the winter.

This weekend, my family was busy just one day, but it was Sunday. On Sunday, are we suppose to have to go to a lot of places? Are we suppose to or not suppose to?

Track by Track documentary
Sam and I took in a collection of short films at the Thin Line Film Festival Sunday night, knowing that one of the short features was about a young man much like him.
Track by Track features the story of Kendall Collins, a young man with autism from a small town in Merced County, California. Kendall is a gifted artist and makes some money selling his drawings, even though he isn’t quite sure about handling money. He wants to go to college, because that’s the next step life says will help him be successful. But he still likes to swing on the swing in the side yard of his family’s home.
Sam said he liked the movie very much. The filmmaker, Anna Moot-Levin, allowed Kendall and his family to be fully human, even in such a short feature. I liked hearing the little chuckles in the audience when Kendall said something so plainly descriptive and honest that we in the audience couldn’t help but see ourselves more fully, too. For example, Kendall tells us he won’t wear a ball cap because it makes him look young. Instead, he wears a fedora because it makes him look more like a businessman.
I get that kind of conversation everyday here at home. It’s such a gift.
“Track by Track” was the first film about autism I’ve seen that really gets what our life is about. Unless enough people voted to make it the best short, it won’t show again in Denton. The next screening is in Missoula, Montana. I’m glad I got to catch that firefly when I had the chance.
